Federal Community Service Work Study - The Federal Community Service Work program places students with local nonprofits that meet their interests and skills. Students that qualify can get paid to do community service with a local agency.

HESS Mentoring Program -  WU students pair up with 6-12th graders on campus for a weekly dinner, tutoring and activity.

Make a Difference Day - Make a Difference Day is a part of the First Year Seminar course and kicks off the school year. Incoming First Years serve with a local nonprofit such as Appalachian Outreach, Catholic Charities Neighborhood Center, Faith In Action Caregivers, Rails to Trails, Mount St. Joseph or Wheeling Soup Kitchen. Agency staff share information about their organization's mission and services to show how the students' work is benefiting the community.

United Way Day of Caring - Each year the United Way hosts their annual campaign kickoff event, the Day of Caring. Teams of Wheeling University staff, faculty and administrators spend the day serving with agencies all across the Northern Panhandle of West Virginia. Wheeling University teams have served at the YWCA, Children's Museum of the Ohio Valley, St. Vincent de Paul's and Holy Family Childcare Center.
