Disability Services Manning Award for Academic Success


The Manning Award for Academic Success is presented to a Wheeling University graduating student who has demonstrated academic success while conquering the challenges of a visible or invisible disability.  This honor is given in the name of Shawn Manning, a 2010 WJU graduate, who overcame the obstacles of his disability through personal motivation, commitment, hard work, and a desire to fulfill his dream of a Jesuit university education.

Criteria for this award:

The student will:

  • Earn a grade point average that establishes academic success
  • Utilize available accommodations and resources
  • Demonstrate the qualities of an independent lifelong learner
  • Receive a recommendation from the Disability Services Director
