Graduate and Professional Studies Nursing Programs

The Graduate and Professional Studies’ Programs in Nursing strive to provide students with flexible and affordable educational pathways to earning degrees and furthering careers in nursing. The Department of Nursing seeks to provide baccalaureate and graduate nursing education to the community. Through an integrated program of classroom and clinical practice, the WU nursing graduate is prepared as a professional nurse to promote health and wellness in a variety of settings.

Wheeling University has several options to help the motivated working nurse excel and move up in their career. The University also provides a program for students that have already obtained a bachelor’s degree but want to make a career change to the nursing field.

  • RN-BSN/MSN: Offered online, this program allows for registered nurses to complete their BSN, as well as take optional MSN courses to jumpstart their completion of a Master’s of Science in Nursing.

  • Accelerated BSN: This 18-month program allows a student holding a four-year college degree to complete the nursing curriculum without repeating core requirements.

  • MSN: The Master’s of Science in Nursing offers an online track in Family Nurse Practitioner. The program prepares students to provide primary care as a Family Nurse Practitioner.

  • Post-Master’s Nursing Certification:This online certificate program allows a student with an MSN degree to obtain specialized skills in the Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) track.

The baccalaureate degree program in nursing, master's degree program in nursing, and post-graduate APRN certificate program at Wheeling University is accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (http://www.ccneaccreditation.org).
